POETRY
Ques.1. What is the poet’s mood in ‘The Dust of
Snow’?
OR How was the poet’s changed
with the fall of the dust of snow?
Ans. The poet was standing under the hemlock tree. He was
sad. Just then a crow sat in the branches of the tree. It shook the branches of
the tree. Some dust of snow fell on the poet. The poet learnt a lesson from it.
He too shook off his sadness and went for his work. Thus his mood was changed
and relaxed.
Ques.2. How will the world end according to
the poem, ‘Fire and Ice’?
Ans. Fire and Ice is a symbolical poem. Fire is the symbol
of lust and desire. Ice is the symbol of hatred. The Bible says that the world
will end in fire. Science says that the world will freeze to death if nuclear
war takes place. So the poet says the world will end in fire or Ice.

Ans. The Tree poem is written by Adriene Rich. The poem
tells the value of trees. There is conflict between man and nature. We grow decorative

man. Man is greedy. But animals have no complaint. They have no hate. The poet
wants to learn from animals. He loves the quality of animals.
